New Store

I have been absent for a while so I thought I should share with you that I have a storefront on Society6.com with prints and other items. It will be updated periodically.

Jeff Sparks and The Dirty Fabulous at DNA

Opening night was a bit of a bust since it was raining most of the evening, keeping most people away from what is typically a very bustling Live on The Plaza night. If you haven’t made it out to DNA yet, there is still time to go check out some of my work and a few amazing and large pieces by the very talented Dirty Fabulous. The exhibit will be up through the rest of October.

Yes, that is a rare shot of me shamelessly enjoying my own artwork.

Art Show Friday!

This Friday, I will be a featured artist at DNA galleries during Live on the Plaza along with The Dirty Fabulous. From their website:

The Dirty Fabulous is exhibiting 3 original works along with 4 archival reproductions. These works are created with acrylic and oil on metal and are a part of an ongoing series since 1993. “The Dirty Fabulous produces relics of the modern American psyche in large-scale mixed media paintings and drawings. Referencing diverse historical, literary and pop subjects. The compositions are littered with symbolic imagery that is part satire, personal musing and broken alchemy….”

We are also excited to feature the work of Jeff Sparks this month whose works and are painstakingly stippled in a process he likens to painting in that he works “… over the same area multiple times to build depth and detail, similar to working from an under-painting.” His works are inspired by mythological and occult stories, theology, philosophy and the occult.”

If you can’t make it Friday, the work will be featured throughout the month. Hope to see you there!

New Piece and shows at the SOCIETY

Alex Bryan just had her first show at the SOCIETY, and I spent a good portion of the week prior to it helping her prepare. She was nervous about it, but it went well and she even sold some work (She’s already more successful than me.) I would tell anyone in the area to go by and check out the show, but they do things a little weird there and don’t leave the work up, so it was just a one night thing.

Both of the other contributing artists are quite talented and had some great work in the show as well. I am particularly fond of Kayla Ayrn’s work, which if you have seen my own work you would probably expect that.

On a somewhat related topic, I have been asked by the SOCIETY to contribute for their third anniversary group show. I don’t know yet what my contribution will be but I will definitely post something about it in advance this time, unlike the aforementioned show above. (Sorry Alex.) I know it is some time in the next month though.

So, I finally got back to work and finished up Anyway, People Die III.

Anyway,-People-Die-(III)

Tis possible some variation of this might make its way onto a shirt or a tote or some random piece of swag if anyone is interested. I am planning on having some things for sale relatively soon.

Inaugural Post

Hello, thanks for checking out the blog.

I’m going to get straight to it, since I don’t really know what people want from this sort of thing nor am I particularly fond of trying to sell myself. I’d much rather leave this whole promotion business to someone, anyone, else.

Anyway, I have another show at DNA Gallery that opens Friday, October 10th. I will be sharing the space with another artist, The Dirty Fabulous. I know it is still pretty far off, but you should mark it on your calendars.

I will be debuting some new pieces that I am currently at work to produce for this event. Here are a couple of process images of some of the works in progress.
